I am reporting on an issue that I have noticed for a few years, and which has persisted throughout several versions of Glyphs. I will be working on a shape, using the “select” tool, and will sometimes accidentally activate the context menu (usually due to a fat finger/keyboard clumsiness issue). I don’t select anything from the context menu, just click on the canvas to dismiss it. But the “select” tool will become the “hand” tool, and the app will stop working in the normal way: I will be unable to make marquee selections, or switch easily between working on a shape and setting some text. The only solution is to quit and restart.
The next time this happens, can you try to open a new tab and see if it works there?
I have a slightly different variation of this problem that has also persisted for years. the hand tool will become selected seemingly randomly. that part is the same. but I don’t think I’ve noticed the connection to the context menu. and I don’t have to restart; I cycle through a few different tools to get back to the tool I was on
it just happened: opened a new tab, still a problem. restarted
When it happens to me, the problem is limited tongue current tab. Opening a new tab fixes it.
