Overlapping Glyphs in Text Preview

Wouldn’t that affect hinting? Like the previewed F below, the horizontal strokes goes all the way to the left of the stem without crossing it. Which seems to have caused artifacts in small sizes. I presume removing overlap will solve that problem. I remember seeing a tutorial on a similar case, where the two stems of a flat-topped A aren’t merged and caused the top to look pointy.

If you export the font with “Remive Overlap” it is fine. This is only a preview issues as the internal font doesn’t remove overlap for performance reasons.
And I would move those overlaps a bit. Because if you export a variable font, the overlap is not removed and you could see those artefacts.

This is an issue in variable fonts. There you need to keep a clean edge. For static fonts, it does not matter.
