Just can’t figure out how to change the instance shown as a preview in indesign menu.
For the Variable font I used “Variable Font origin”, but for the OTFs it picks the narrower and lighter master (which is literally the first master in the glyphs file).
Is there a custom parameter or something else that solve this?
If you know how InDesign picks the preview font out of a static family…? Keep in mind that this may change in their next version. So don’t waste your energy on this.
Well it’s actually not related only to indesign.
It showing the same instance in Figma as well. That’s why I thought there must be a way to set a default one.
Technically it’s possible to do that based on the name IDs 1, 2, 16 and 17. Just make sure your naming is done right, but you need to do that anyway. I wouldn’t recommend to make changes just to satisfy a third-party algorithm that may be changing in their next version.
But maybe it’s just the most recently used one or the first one alphabetically.
