Placement of components when adding glyphs

Hi,

As an example take “double questionmark”. When you do Glyphs → Add Glyphs → u2047 it creates a new glyph with two question marks but they are on top of each other rather than next to each other. Is that expected or am I missing certain anchors or other information that will better place the components?

I ask as I am working on various math glyphs many of which are made of components of other glyphs. It would be nice for Glyphs to create these automatically, but I am not sure what is possible.

Thanks in advance!

Julius

I see the problem. I’ll have a look.

I suppose #exit and #entry anchors should work

Yes that works pretty well, thanks! Is there some magic to have it also do something sensible with the side bearings (e.g. with a left-to-right script the LSB of the result should be the LSB of the first one etc).

You should be able to right click and “Enable Alignment”. Punctuation glyphs are not aligned by default (I might change that in Glyphs 4) so you need to manually enable it.
