A print shop has a problem when they try to print one of my variable fonts. They are using Allotrope Variable through Adobe CC service. Everything looks fine on screen but when they process the font through their print RIP some of the letters get cut off on the side. They managed to replicate the problem on screen using PitStop when they split the text into individual characters, and it looks like this:
Can you check the width of the “M” in the default master. It might be a problem that the rasterizer calculates the bounding box from the default master but the outline becomes wider. There were other apps with this bug.
Pretty sure the RIP was the problem. They’ve tested the font in three other RIPs and it works fine. The customer says it is a bit odd that the font works in an old Kodak rip but not in a state of the art Harlequin rip.
