Problem with Framer Styles Selector

I have two problems with Framer. I hope someone can help me.

  1. When I upload one of my font families to Framer as a custom font, each style is displayed as an individual “family” (see screenshot). What could be causing this?

  1. A client of mine is using one of my entire font families. For them, the styles are grouped, but every style is recognized as “Regular.” What could be causing this? I’ve attached a screenshot for this as well.

Update: This is caused by a script that the fonts run through on my webshop to deter desktop installations.

Can you show some of your instance settings?

Does this happen with other fonts that have more weights than just Regular and Bold as well? This might be a Framer issue. Have you checked your font family with Fontbakery?

This is how my instances settings look like:

Other fonts available in Framer also work (i.e. Google Fonts). As for the integration of other fonts through Framer’s Custom Fonts feature, I can only test my own fonts.

I checked Font Bakery. No errors beside a soft hyphen and different widths for math signs…

Can you show some of the none Regular instances?

Perhaps there is a PostScript Font Name or Full Name parameter somewhere?

Of course. I added a screenshot of the font info too.

No PostScript or Full Name parameters. At least not that I can see.
The file was originally created as a Glyphs2 file and then opened and saved as G3 file. Could the conversion from G2 to G3 cause any problems?

By the way, the Regular Style Name Problem was caused by a script in my online shop that the fonts run through. So that is solved!

The problem in Framer where each style name is displayed as a family still exists (see screenshot below).

All looks good in your settings. You said that Google fonts work, but does that mean fonts you upload as custom fonts work if they are Google fonts?

Can you check with some free font family and upload that as a custom font? Try with non-Regular styles. I suspect this is an issue in Framer.

@SCarewe Good question. I uploaded WOFF2 files of a Google font that comes preinstalled in Framer and voila, same Problem. So it must be a Framer issue with custom fonts. :pensive:

Not much you can do, in that case. But that’s good news for you!
