Hello,
I have a questions about type design that might be somewhat subjective. I’m just curious about the practices, workflows, and conventions of other people.
Do you reuse the same kerning groups on numerals, punctuation, and symbols that you use on your letterforms (if the shapes of the sides are the same)? Alternatively, do you keep kerning groups separate for each subsection of your font (letters, numerals, punctuation, symbols, etc)?
Example:
I have a square font where the sides of the “zero” and “H” are the same. Would you personally apply the same kerning group to the numeral and the uppercase letter? Alternatively, would you make another kerning group that’d only be used for numerals that have flat edge(s)?
