Question about Smart Glyphs Settings

I’ve been trying to figure out how to use Smart Components and while going through the tutorial I noticed the layers dialogue box online different from the one on glyphs 3, can someone please explain to me how it works with the check boxes rather than the numbers please!

I seem to have gotten it to work by checking off these boxes:

Yes, and in the Regular, check the two checkboxes on the right.

The tutorial currently does not reflect the latest UI and will be updated. You can have a look at the handbook for up-to-date Smart Component instructions, see section 9.2, Smart Components, page 133:
