Hi,
I wonder if there’s a way to finetune master glyph widths when there’s only a width axis available?
Thank you,
Christoph
Did you try with the RMX Tuner? You should be able to interpolate along the width axis only.
Doesn’t work, unfortunately. Only with a backup layer, but that’s not that handy.
Sorry, I know you requested something like this a long times ago, and it makes sense. Right now, neither the RMX Tuner nor the RMX Monospacer (where it would make particular sense) use the width axis.
What you can try is the RMX Scaler, though. If there is a width axis then you will see a “±width” field in addition to the “Width” percentage field. I believe this should allow you to do what you wanted.
Oops, I just noticed that this is only possible if there is a weight axis as well, otherwise it will not even start up. Ideally, the Scaler should not completely refuse to run in that case, and instead offer what is possible without a weight axis.
If you are really desperate you could add a fake weight axis (along with a fake, duplicated master with a different weigh value), then at least the width tweaking should work. Of course, the weight-retaining scaling will not give correct results.
Thank you, Tim!
I’ll try it out, but since I know that RMX doesn’t offer a (handy) option (yet), I was hoping that there was anything else for simple tweaking.
