Renaming custom GlyphData.xml

Hi! I made a custom GlyphData file that I keep inside the same folder as my glyphs file. I want to rename it so that I will know that this is the one I customized, however, whenever I do so, it is not recognized by the app.

Is it possible to rename the GlyphData.xml file, or what is the naming convention to keep it organized/identifiable while keeping it recognizable by the app?

It has to start with the word GlyphData. And have an .xml suffix. In between, you should be able to pick a word of your choice.

Hi @mekkablue ! I tried doing this, but it doesn’t seem to work properly… I also tried restarting my computer in the process so that it gets refreshed. Does it need to have no spaces in the filename? or do I need to regenerate my glyphs?

Try “GlyphData-MyName.xml”. The “-” is important.

When did this naming change? My custom file is only named GlyphData.xml and has always worked. It is kept in the Info folder.

Just “GlyphData.xml” is fine. Only if you need more than one file or like to give it a specific name …

It worked! Thank you @GeorgSeifert !
