Hello! One of my students has an accessibility necessity. He can only use one hand, so I have been helping him adapt Glyphs to his particular context.
In the shortcuts menu, I do not see a way to change the command ‘option’+click to convert straight paths into curves. This command is not accesible via the upper menu, not the right click function. At least I do not see it.
The ideal scenario would be to map this function to a third click on his mouse.
Depending on the hardware used, this could be also programmed to a key (combination). In their situation I would recommend to look into programmable devices anyway. I little while ago I was in their shoes for almost a year. Using a Dygma Raise since then and never looking back.
Though I agree that such a thing should be accessible and I think I heard that this particular feature is on the table for improvement.
I agree that my student should invest in a piece of hardware for an improvement in the quality of life. However, installing new software (to program the device) at university computers is a regulated process and he might be switching computers often depending on the class as he moves through the study years.
Having such an important command accesible via other means is faster. I hope this gets resolved in a soon patch as I hope we can finish my Glyphs class with that feature available.
Just a side note about the hardware: there are options out there that don’t require software on the computer, but install everything on the device (keyboard) itself. Unfortunately those turns to be on the pricier side, but usually they come with more improvements than “just” custom keys.
