This is a very annoying bug, the tab bar was not visible at all, only the close buttons on hover, took me a bit to figure out it seems to be connected to sidebar, see video. I’m on MacOS 27.0. and yes, it was a mistake.
Also, what does Navigation > Toggle Sidebar does? It’s always grayed out, no matter which sidebar is visible,

Yes, I can reproduce it. Strange, I tested this exact configuration (dark app + light edit view), but something must have come in the way just before the release of 4200. I’ll have a closer look tomorrow, but I expect the fix to be straightforward and this issue to be fully fixed in the next cutting edge.
Oh, this was the same bug I reported on my last comment. I thought I had it figured out, but apparently not. The only way we can avoid it is by keeping our appearance in both the Font and Glyph view consistent with our macOS theme. Good to know 4200 will fix it, it’s good to have that option without borking the tabs altogether.
