Hi there
I’m having some issues to make a smooth connection from the ink trap component to the bowl. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this without decomposing it and change the nodes connection? Or if not is there is a Filter I can apply on export.
Hard because you would need to match the curvature at the transition point. For that, you would need something like Green Harmony applied afterwards.
Simplify the shape as much as possible: get rid of the bottom left on-curve, otherwise the segments become too small and you’ll be running into grid rounding issues all the time.
Duplicate the corner to make a specialized version for this transition from curve to vertical. Then experiment with the rightmost segment (especially handle length).
Can I ask you why it must be a curve in the end of the trap? Would a straight not do the job just as well? It seems like a great ask to put smooth curves back-to-back in so few units of space?
I assume there must be some reason that I am not aware of.
The algorithm is not clever enough to fit the corners smoothly into a tight curve like this. I’, working on this. Could you send me a test font with your setup?
Not directly related, but you also have a high chance to get kinks in the inktrap itself when exporting to TrueType curves because the offcurves placement is not good:
