It would be useful to store which version of Glyphsapp generated the fonts. This info could be stored in the uniqueID nametable records. TTF Autohint has a similar option.

good idea. I would think a template like {{{$APPVERSION}}} would be useful. Other variables could be $FAMILYNAME, $STYLENAME, $VERSION…
