I’m working on a variable typeface with 2 axes (wdth and wght). I want a different Q starting from 75% compression of the font’s width (wdth) and from the Semi Bold weight (122). For this, I followed the tutorial here, but I’m having some difficulty understanding where my mistake is because it’s not working at the moment. I must have missed something.
Thank you for any help.
I would suggest to only add in one of the numbers. In both rows, you have gaps to both sides. It seems that you need to remove the “157” and the “62,5”.
And you need bracket layers in all other masters. Can you show the difference between the “Bold Condensed […” and the “[]
” drawings?
But why do you link to switch them? They seem to be very close?
Sorry, but I don’t understand. I get the overall concept, but I’m struggling with the layers. Here’s an image. I need the Q to be different starting from a certain weight (semi bold condensed 75%)
The regular style to need this adjustement.
'm having a lot of trouble with this method involving multiple axes. I tried the other method with alternate glyphs, and it works. I don’t understand where my mistake is
Can you send me the file?
yes but how can I send you this file ?
This is how you need to set it up.
Well done Georg! Thank you so much for your help. I now have both methods working correctly. I read the pros and cons of these two methods at the end of the tutorial. Do you have an opinion on this?
In cases like this, I tend to use the bracket layer.
