Hello hello! I wonder if I’m in the minority to think it would be better to apply the star node position to the actual path rather than to the preview path. It just creates visual chaos and I can’t see any use for storing its original position (which is useful for open corners). Smooth nodes apply to the actual path, so does this really need to be different?
You can think of the star node describing your design intension with the gray background line showing the resulting outline.
Reposition the star node to be closer to the super-smooth position or keep it as-is for future editing.
The idea makes sense, but the implementation doesn’t in my view — it seems like a mix of reporting and editing tools. If I’m happy with the resulting path, and the machine already knows the good point position, the choice is either to keep looking at my useless original path cluttering the view, or moving the point manually to match the automation. Seems odd, so I guess I’ll just have to wait for more people to come to the same conclusion, and stick with a good old harmonization script in the meantime ![]()
Please explain “The Star node” to me and what it is supposed to do and why I need to use it?
I agree about the visual clutter and applying the star node to the resulting node position.

The point is that it’s non-destructive, and the resulting point is in its G2 position. I agree that there should be a way to ‘expand’ the node. Right now you need to Opt-move it on the resulting position. Or use the Green Harmony filter, or the Bézier Fixer script.
I have always used one of the bezier fixing scripts. RMX Harmonizer, Tunni. or the new one. So then again, what is the “Star node for?”
It is applying the harmonization automatically. So no reasons to run those scripts all the time. But if you are happy with running the scripts, keep doing that.

You guys are the greatest, but I agree that the star node is very strange in this position, I will probably never use it. Works well for straights-becoming-curve-areas however (that is… if you want them smooth like that).
