Two variable axes, issue testing

I’ve designed variable fonts before. They’ve worked but I’ve only ever had one axis.

I can see that people have posted about a similar issue before, although I’ve not come accross an answer to my issue.

I’m currently designing a font with three variable axis, right now I’m just testing the two. Weight and width tested separately work how I wish. Together they don’t work.

How do I set up my masters? I have a thin, a bold, then a condensed and an expanded. The thin and bold are set at the middle width. The condensed and expanded are set at the middle weight. Is this correct?

For best results, put them in a rectangular arrangement, meaning master 2 should only change one of the coordinates, master 3 only the other. You may even get away without the fourth master in the opposite corner:
