Using Dropbox Rewind with .glyphspackage

I’ve just started working with the .glyphspackage format and just found out the hard way that Dropbox’s Version History doesn’t work with it, since it’s structured as many separate files in a folder. I tried using the Dropbox Rewind function to undo some accidental changes, and now I can’t open the .glyphspackage file at all. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Thanks.

You should be able to rewind an entire folder, not just individual files. Since a .glyphspackage is just a folder from Dropbox’s perspective, that should do what you need.

Thanks, Florian. But unfortunately, it hasn’t worked that way. I now have a .glyphspackage I can’t open at all. Perhaps I didn’t use the feature correctly. Do you have any advice?

Have a look at the Dropbox help on using the Dropbox file history for folders:

Thanks, I’ve already consulted the help docs, and they don’t seem to give any guidance on opening a ‘folder’ that won’t open.

I don’t use Dropbox myself, so I cannot test it. Could you share screenshots of the Dropbox interface where you are trying to restore an old version of the folder. I have sent you a private message where you can respond without sharing the screenshots and files publicly.

Max, you should be able to right-click and do “Show Package Contents” on the .glyphspackage “file” when viewing it in the Dropbox folder in Finder. Then you can at least see if there’s any data inside it. It should contain a folder glyphs and the files fontinfo.plist, order.plist, and perhaps UIState.plist.

Thanks, Jens. It contains order.plist, fontinfo.plist, and a glyphs folder. The glyphs folder is completely empty.

Not good … the glyphs folder should contain one file for each glyph in the font. Maybe the contents of this folder must be “rewinded” separately?
