Not really a problem — more of an interesting behaviour. So I have this 4-master variable font set up in Glyphs 3 (3097). The generated variable font works fine everywhere (regardless of whether it’s generated from Glyphs 2 or 3). But when I open the ttf file in Glyphs 3, it shows three masters instead of 4. And when I open it in Glyphs 2 (1352), it shows just one.
