Hello Community,
iam beginning with variable Fonts. I analyse the Illustrator Font “Source Sans Variable” and if i expand the Font ill get these Parts in the Glyphs like “A,Q,R”. This is a littlebit confusing. Why it wouldnet merge it to one font.

Variable fonts can contain overlapping paths. Otherwise interpolation wouldn’t work so well. When you convert text to outlines, you get what’s in the the font. When you apply an outline to text, illustratior is not showing the overlapping parts.
