Variable font printing issue

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask whether there’s any documentation about a variable font bug (exported with Glyphs 3.4) like the one in the attached image. The issue only shows up in print, and those kinks aren’t caused by particularly extreme point transitions. Those noticeable kinks instead correspond exactly to a point resulting from the quadratic conversion of the curves.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Can you show what the outlines look like in Glyphs?

Yes, of course. Here it is.

The image you’re seeing in the previous message was sent to me by a client I tried to reproduce the issue, but I wasn’t able to with my printers.

Very odd, especially since the drop shadow effect doesn’t have the same problem.

The only idea I have: your client converted the font to outlines and exported this as an SVG from Illustrator. The SVG output from Illustrator is broken and has been for quite some time, the errors look like the ones you showed above. Maybe you could ask?

That looks like a bug in Indesign.
