Variable font with unique family name?

Is it possible to use one Glyphs file to export static instances with fontFamilyName and a variable file with fontFamilyName VAR?

I do not see a Custom Parameter in the variable instance to do this, am I overlooking something? Not sure what the Name field here does, as the variable export shows up as fontFamilyName in font menus.

Add a “Variable Font Setting” in the exports page. There, in the “General” section, add a “Localized Family Name”.

Another note, it’s advisable to use the Axis Location parameters for masters and instances instead of setting an Axis Mappings custom parameter for each variable font setting (if you insist, you can set the Axis Mappings parameter in Font Info > Font already. Same goes for Use Typo Metrics).
