View position jumping too much when switching between masters

See the video, I have two points selected in the 2nd window, and none in the first. It shouldn’t jump this much.

I’ve been seeing this “climbing the screen” behavior forever. I’ve tried to work out the logic of what would cause it but I haven’t been able to. Perhaps different vertical metrics in the masters? Seems to me the baseline should stay stationary ideally as you switch masters.

Same same. It’s really annoying when working on a 6-master font for things to be sliding further and further off the screen when switching between masters. The current glyph should just stay centred IMO.

This happens when you’re selecting something in a layer. If you do, Glyphs tries (and fails) to match the position and keeps moving by the same distance and same angle. I’ve raised the problem long time ago but it’s considered a feature.

Is a feature just an unfixable bug? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s not a bug. It’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. And I hate it.

@GeorgSeifert ? :sweat_smile:

I see it’s been fixed! but now when no points are selected it defaults to the centre?.. Glyphs 2.3 Collected Issues

I though the center would be more useful. But I can change it back quite easily. I would put it out for a vote.

It seems to me that the ideal situation would be for it to center on the Bounding Box of the path(s) being viewed rather than have to have something selected or some other workaround.

I didn’t understand the description. It should of cause not jump to the center. I fixed it.

It’s great that it locks on to the same position while switching back and forth, but I really don’t like it centring in the first switch. I’m not sure if my feedback conflicts with your goal here, but I find the current implementation more annoying than before.

Thanks.
