Have anyone experienced this bug when printing one of your fonts directly from InDesign?
This is a printout of a relatively normally proportioned sans serif typeface. The strange artefacts showcased in /a, /s – actually in every single letter – is NOT part of the typeface’s design

That looks like some outline problems or hinting gone bad.
The above is a print someone else made of my typeface. I tried to print it myself directly from InDesign and there was no problems whatsoever, so I’m leaning towards this being a problem on their end.

Then it is a problem with the printer. Some printers have problems with TrueType fonts with hinting from ttfautohint or OTF font with fractional coordinates.

Alright – can I do anything on my end to accomodate that issue?
Ask your client to use the .otf instead. Or a more modern printer driver…?
