I have a client who is having issues when sharing illustrator files between designers with custom variable width. Files are saved and everything looks good, when opened by someone else the spacing of the letters is wrong in unpredictable ways.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I’ve attached some images, left is the wrong spacing, right is the correct spacing.
I cannot seem to figure out why this is! Any help is appreciated.
Does everyone has the same fonts installed?
According to them they do, although I have no way of checking for sure.
Another thing I forgot to mention, moment you click into the text box and touch the weight or width axis in illustrator, the issue resolve itself.
I can share the Illustrator file and VFs if that would help?
Illustrator tries to keep the line breaking even with slightly different font on the expense of the letter spacing. Please double check that all the fonts and the version of illustrator is the same. And read this: Testing your fonts in Adobe apps | Glyphs
