Windows chokes on OTF export with "Bold" in the style field, is fine if that's blank

I made my very first font in here, and I was trying to load it into Windows 10, and I found that Windows rejects the .otf file as invalid if I put “Bold” in the metadata “Font style” field. I apparently have to leave it blank to be accepted.

(I know nothing about the art of fontery, but I managed to come up with a stylized look that I think my website will benefit from.)

Do you have multiple instances, notably a Regular instance?

It should still work.

When you say Windows, which exact app are you testing it in? Word?

For Windows, always use TTF. Read the Make your font work in Windows tutorial in the Learn section for more tips.

No, there’s only the one instance. And I’m talking about the Windows “Install” option.

Thanks for pointing out the “Make your font work in Windows” tutorial.
