Font using the suffixes .init, .medi and .fina but doesn’t work while typing.
I applied those suffixes used for arabic fonts to make a new Latin alphabet. Do you have an idea why exported font, while typing doesn’t get the shapes I designed?
That is because the choice of positional shape is not done by the font, but rather by the layout or shaping engine (what Adobe calls the ‘composer’). The engine picks the respective OT feature in the right spot. It will only do that for Arabic text though. So, for Latin you would need to implement it with contextual alternates.
