Turning masters on and off

Searched the forum with no answer found. Is it possible to temporary turn master off? And why not? I’m working with four masters (Lt / Blck / LtCd / BlckCd) and I extrapolated Thins. I made instances as masters but would come back to it later. Can I turn those two masters off temporary?

You can disable masters on instance basis.

Not sure if you understood me. I want to have it, just want to temporarily turn it off. Making Instance (which is Thin master too) inactive doesn’t turn off Thin master.

Add custom parameters “Disable Masters” in Font Info > Font with the name of masters you want to disable

Thanks, I thought about custom parameters but didn’t dig deep enough. Unfortunately it does not disable master and I still see it.
Disable Masters Cd Thin (as named)
I also tried with Weight:98 Width:50

The disabled master not disappear from the master list (with icons) but it will be not used for interpolation.

I see. Unfortunately it’s not what I want.

Fully remove it from the UI is not supported.

I had similar questions about temporarily disabling and hiding masters – Feature request: Disable + Hide Master from Masters tab

Working with four, six or even more masters is not a big deal. But it could be nice if I want to have optical masters and italics all in the same monster master file.
Rethink it, if it’s possible, please.

There are two different problems here. One is not be able to keep stuff in the file without messing up the interpolation and the other is a better master management. We are working to improve both.
